In Memory of a Good Friend

Posted on

Not Yet

You left too soon, my friend, too fast,
A sudden tear, a shadow cast.
The world keeps turning, day by day,
But in my heart, you’ve gone away.

Not ready yet to say goodbye,
Not ready yet to let time fly.
The memories, they linger near,
In every laugh, in every tear.

Your voice still echoes in my mind,
A comfort lost, so hard to find.
I see your face in fleeting dreams,
A glimpse of what was, or so it seems.

How do I move, how do I cope,
When every thought, it clings to hope?
I’m not yet ready to forget,
Not yet, not now, not ever yet.

So I’ll hold on, though you’re gone,
In every dusk, in every dawn.
Forgetting feels too much to bear,
Not yet, my friend, you’re still right there.

William Allan “Will” Deering, age 42, passed away on Saturday, August 17, 2024, after a brief battle with leukemia.

Born on February 27, 1982, in Lawton, Oklahoma, Will found the love of his life in Vanessa Baker. They were married on September 27, 2003, and enjoyed 20 years together, raising three children—Michael, Kaylee, and Bryce—whom he cherished deeply. Will was a devoted husband and father, and the time he spent with his family was the most precious to him. He loved taking trips with them, always planning the next adventure. Together, they explored the outdoors through fishing, hunting, and hiking. If it involved his family, Will was always ready for the journey.

Will began his career with the Denison Police Department on January 1, 2010, where he served with dedication for over 14 years. He spent six years as a K9 officer with his loyal partner, Ivar, and fulfilled various roles, including Patrol Officer, Narcotics Detective, Field Training Officer, and Sergeant. Most recently, he served as the Training & Development Coordinator, where his true passion for training and mentoring new officers shone brightly.

Will is survived by his wife Vanessa; son, Michael and wife Addyson; daughter, Kaylee; son, Bryce; and his beloved K9 partner, Ivar. He is also survived by his Denison PD family, along with numerous close friends and extended family members.
