bobwhite

A bobwhite stopped by the tree in my backyard, its distinctive call breaking the quiet afternoon. These small, ground-dwelling birds are common in the south, known for their mottled brown feathers that help them blend into their surroundings. Bobwhites typically live in grasslands and wooded edges, so it was a nice surprise to see one so close. They’re social birds, often found in coveys, but this one seemed content exploring on its own. Seeing wildlife like this is one of the best parts of living out here.
